Honor Guard

The Council Bluffs Fire Department Honor Guard was first conceived after a fire claimed the lives of three Keokuk Firefighters in December of 2000.

Fire Chief Alan Byers and Asst. Chief Doyle Miner realized that there was a need for a uniformed body of personnel to represent the Council Bluffs Fire Department at ceremonies throughout the state. Members of the department volunteered for the Honor Guard and training was started in March of 2001

The Honor Guard has 10 uniformed members whose purpose is to service both past and present Fire Department personnel and their families.

The Guard also represents the Department at other cities where a line of duty death has occurred and represents the department at local, state and national ceremonies and events.
